We understand that after fire damage occurs, you may want to jump right in and start cleaning. Timely action can be a great help, but incorrect action can cause more damage to your property. Here are some do’s and don’ts after suffering fire damage:

Do

• Empty refrigerators and freezers if electricity is off, and prop open doors to air circulation
• If weather permits, open windows for ventilation
• Clean and protect chrome and other bright finishes by washing with detergent and applying a coat of Vaseline
• Use caution any time you enter a fire damaged location
• Do not store any items affected by smoke in or by items not effected from the smoke
• Make sure you wear a mask or respirator any time you are in a damaged environment

Do not

• Wipe or attempt to wash fire residue from the walls, ceilings or other absorbent surfaces
• Use carpets or upholstered furniture impacted by residues or debris
• Use food items or canned goods that have been exposed to heat
• Turn on any electrical items until they have been cleaned and checked

There are different types of smoke which require different methods of clean up:

Wet - This tends to leave a sticky and smeary type of residue that is difficult to clean.

Dry - This is a generated from a fast burning type of fire.

Protein - This is virtually invisible and will discolor paint.

Fuel Oil - This is furnace soot and other fire extinguishing items.

We will board up and secure damaged areas to prevent intrusion . We are available 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. We will remove and store your personal belongings. Working closely with you, we will clean damaged items and inspect the condition of these items to determine whether they are salvageable and non salvageable items. We will clean up the water that was used extinguishing the fire and do whatever is necessary to locate and remove the odor causing smoke and soot residue, and deodorize your home to remove the smoke residue. We will provide any repairs necessary to repair your home to its pre-loss state. We provide direct billing to your insurance company to simplify the process and we work quickly to restore the exterior and interior area’s so you can get back to a normal way of life.
